As a Diploma-qualified insurance professional (Dip CII) with over 20 years of experience in Hong Kong, I have built my career on one simple principle: the people and businesses my clients have spent a lifetime building deserve to be properly protected.

My background is in insurance broking, and that foundation shapes everything I do. I understand risk — how to identify it, how to quantify it, and how to put structures in place that genuinely mitigate it rather than just tick a box. For Hong Kong business owners in particular, that means looking beyond the individual and taking a holistic view of their exposure: the company, the shareholders, the key people the business depends on, and the family that depends on the business.

At Soteria Trusts, I work with entrepreneurs and business owners across Hong Kong to design and implement comprehensive protection strategies that address both sides of that picture. On the business side, this includes key person insurance, shareholder protection agreements, business continuity planning, and commercial risk management — solutions that ensure a business can survive and recover from the unexpected without placing undue financial strain on the people involved. On the personal side, I help clients think carefully about what happens to their wealth, their assets, and their loved ones if the unexpected occurs.

That personal planning dimension has become an increasingly important part of my work. I assist clients with Will writing and the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney, ensuring that their wishes are clearly documented and their families are not left navigating uncertainty at an already difficult time. One area I focus on particularly closely is the Business Will — a critical but widely overlooked document that addresses what happens to company shares, partnership agreements, and cross-border business interests when a business owner passes away. Without one, even well-run businesses can face frozen accounts, operational disruption, and unintended tax exposure at exactly the moment when stability matters most.

To help Hong Kong’s business community understand these risks and take practical action, I host the Future-Proof Your Business: Wills, Succession & Legacy Planning webinar every quarter — a free, practical session covering Business Wills, succession planning strategies, the role of insurance in estate planning, and the tax considerations that every business owner with cross-border assets should understand. Combined with Soteria Trusts’s broader trust and fiduciary capabilities, clients who attend leave with a clear picture of what they need and a straightforward path to putting it in place.

If you are a business owner in Hong Kong looking to protect what you have built — for your company, your family, or both — I would be very happy to have an initial conversation.
